Lucy's Blanket

Just popping in quickly
bring you Christmas wishes from Patchwork House

Now the busyness of Christmas is over
I am settling down to some rather lovely jewel bright hooky.
Those of you who follow me on
 or
will have been sharing the fun of my new blanket unfolding.

This is a blanket of
 LOVE
for my youngest daughter
who will go away to University in September.
She is a textiles student and is very interested in colour and design
so we have had great fun planning this together

The pattern is called
which can be found free

do note it is written in American crochet terms
but you will find a handy conversion
if you look at the tabs at the top of my blog!

I am using my favourite yarn for blanket making
which is now on sale at an amazing £1.59 for 100g
at Deramores.
I love this yarn as it is so soft and snuggly.
It can be machine washed and tumble dried on low
which actually increases the softness of the blanket.

We have chosen 28 shades of bright jewel colours

each square has 8 colours
and a beautiful 3D texture
created by the different stitches and shapes

I am making a whole square at a time
and then joining as I go
with the flat braid join from

this is very easy but looks quite fancy
adding yet another interesting dimension to the blanket

This blanket is such fun to make
with all its stitches and colours
and never ending possible combinations

I am half way now
and have another 24 squares to make and join
 before the deep lacey border.
I will be back next week
to show you the finished product in its full glory.

Have a lovely relaxing holiday my hooky friends

Heather

Blanket is gorgeous! Colours so vibrant!

I am new to crochet and would like to know the amount of yarn you would need for a project like yours?

Your projects are very inspiring!!
